Glock 43X Usage and Features

Primary Use

Concealed Carry

Are you right or left handed?

Right Handed

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

G5 barrel, longer grip and more mag capacity than G43, Glock night sights.

Tell us about shooting this gun.

It is a Glock. I think due to the shorter barrel and smaller size, it is takes more practice to deal with the recoil and get/stay on aim than with a larger pistol like the G19.

How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?

Yes, I think even more so than the G43 or P365 (both of which were tried before deciding on the G43X) because of the grip length.

How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)

Easy for me to rack the slide with C-grip, mag releases fine, typical Glock trigger pull and reset.

Do you like the sights on this gun?

Yes. The 3 dot GNS was actually initially harder to get used to after trying out a model with the U-shaped and dot polymer sights. Even with the combat sight picture, the rear sight was too short for me, and after calling Glock, they sent the next taller steel rear night sight to me for free within a couple days later. I had to buy a little sight pusher to switch the sights out, but not a big deal.

How reliable is it?

It did take about 250 rounds to break it in. It could have been me vs the new magazines (one seemed a lot stiffer near the top lip than the other at first) vs something else break-in-wise on the pistol. Otherwise, it is very reliable and seems like a solidly built pistol.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

No. It takes JHP and ball of various brands quite well.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

Yes.

Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?

No.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

I think the G43X is a great option in the subcompact category. It is a Glock, so I anticipate it being quite reliable and durable for many years to come. However, considering price and capacity (13+1), the S&W Shield Plus would also be up there as a solid subcompact CCW option, IMO. Accuracy, feel, and recoil overall seem pretty similar between these two.

Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?

Yes.
