Founder’s Jacket

The Founder’s Jacket is not your typical SHOT Show announcement item for a website named “TheFirearmBlog,” but it was actually one of the most exciting things found at SHOT Show 2024 when it was teased last year. Now, it is officially here! Do you want a suit coat you can ball up and chuck in your luggage yet when you pull it out it looks mint? Well, this is it. Peak laziness and tactical fashion meet here because you can even run this thing through a washer and dry and it will survive. Currently, the Founder’s Jacket has an MSRP of $160 (Regular) or $194 (Tall).

In a similar vein, some new boots meant for a different collection – the US Army – have also been announced. Built for and approved by the U.S. Army for uniform regulations, the new Taclite 2.0 8″ AR 670-1 (MSRP $165) and Speed 4.0 Desert RapiDry 8” (No MSRP yet) boast an oil and slip-resistant outsole for the best traction possible, an Echo Lite EVA midsole for cushioning, an Ortholite® insole for comfort, and a 5.11 A/T support plate for torsional stability. Everything that you would want and hope for in a hard-use, military boot.

Another item within this US Army, uniform regulation approved line is the A/T™ 8” AR 670-1 boot (MSRP $180.00). This uses 5.11’s signature A.T.L.A.S. (All Terrain Load Assistance System) tech so you can sport these for all manner of tomfoolery and work. There is also the A/T™ BOA® Lite (MSRP $190.00) which is modeled after the popular A/T Trainer 2.0 for all of your workouts.

Also, don’t forget about 5.11 footwear updates to the   Stache Sneaker (MSRP $95) and   PT-R™ Inure Runner (MSRP $125) as well. Both will be available in new colorways. The Stache, 5.11’s renowned collaborative shoe with TFBTV’s James Reeves, will be released in Grey, and the PT-R Inure will be newly offered in two new shades: Ranger Green and Kangaroo.

EDC Tools

It wouldn’t be SHOT Show without some EDC tool upgrades, and we have exactly that with these carabiners that afford your more practicality than simply hanging onto your keys. With small, additional tools built in they are a bargain at their sub-$20 price points.

[Left to Right]: Hardpoint M2 (MSRP $6) and Hardpoint L3 Locking (MSRP $18)

Another practical carry tool that many of us bring along daily is a handy knife. Whether it is for letter opening, cutting open cardboard boxes, eating a sandwich, or more grave and serious matters, a good EDC knife is always a valuable EDC tool.

  • Icarus DP Mini (MSRP $32)
  • Flyte SP Elite (MSRP $70)
  • Pryme Double Duty (MSRP $80)

Something else that can be worth investing in as a self-reliant defender if you are also a traveler are defensive tools that can legally go through an airport like a tactical pen. Yes, we can travel through an airport with knives and firearms (locked away under the plane in cargo), but a tactical pen is something you can take with you everywhere to defend yourself. The new Kubaton Tactical Pen (MSRP $34) can serve just that purpose.

Beyond Clothing® Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) Collection

Last on 5.11’s list of new products for 2025 is something most people won’t see coming with the Beyond Clothing® Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) Collection that was unveiled. Beyond Clothing® is a 5.11 affiliate company and a leader in expedition apparel. They joined 5.11 at their booth showcasing the brand’s cutting-edge expeditionary apparel displaying its new line of Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) products. For now, there are no MSRPs yet, but we’re sure those will come soon.
