Are you right or left-handed?
Right Handed
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
Small, compact. Outstanding comfortable and secure grip. Lightweight. Easily concealable
Tell us about shooting this gun.
In 9mm, it is definitely snappy (as should be expected). Training will take care of managing that downside. Aside from that, the trigger and factory sights are awesome. Extremely reliable (no misfires with a wide variety of manufacturer’s ammunitions).
How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?
It is a small, concealable, lightweight gun shooting a snappy caliber (9mm). With sufficient practice and training, the recoil should become more manageable. I’m absolutely still learning and I have my good and bad days, but things are becoming easier.
How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)
The fit in my hand is AMAZING, as are the mag releases, safety, and trigger pull. The thumn slide release is difficult, however (never have had the thumb strength to do it on the fly). But, again, the grip! The grip is fantastic. Before I purchased this gun, I was fortunate enough to have friend bring several compact 9mm handguns in various models to the range for me to try out (Ruger, Glock, S&W). The M&P Shield checked almost all the boxes (except for the thumb slide release- Glock won that category). My husband, a loyal G19 carrier, has been growing more and more fond of my Shield for conceal carry.
Do you like the sights on this gun?
Good.
How reliable is it?
No problems as of yet.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
No!
Was it easy to take down and clean?
Absolutely!
Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?
Thumb slide release- too difficult. Also the “Picatinny rail” is kind of a joke… good like finding a light, if that’s what you’re looking for!
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Try and find someone or a range where you can try it out. I spent several hours with this gun before purchasing and ending up loving it!
Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?
Yes!!
FYI- I stated earlier that I am right-handed, which I am. In my uploaded pic, however, I am holding the gun in my left hand, so that I could hold my phone steady in my right hand to take the pic. For reference, I generally wear a size small-medium (6.5-7) sized glove.
