Ruger LCR .38 Usage and Features
Primary Use
Concealed Carry
Are you right or left handed?
Right-Handed
What features does this gun have that appeal to you?
Lightweight, hammerless
Tell us about shooting this gun.
I loved the idea of this gun, but the short grip, even with my small hands, makes it painful to shoot more than a few rounds and leaves my palms feeling bruised.
How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?
There is a lot of recoil due to the lightweight design and caliber. It’s manageable, but not my preference.
How does it fit your hand, are the controls easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)
Grip is very short. Controls are simple and work great. Double pull trigger acts as a safety.
Do you like the sights?
They’re as good as any other
How reliable is it?
Very
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
Had some aluminum rounds expand, but not fire properly causing them to get stuck and kept the chamber from rotating. I recommend always using brass rounds.
Was it easy to take down and clean?
Extremely easy
Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?
The recoil causes bruising to my palm and makes the accuracy of firing a 2nd rapid shot very challenging for me.
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Test one at a range first.
Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?
Yes, but only after they test it at a range to see if they can grip and control it comfortably.
