Ruger LCP Max Usage and Features

Concealed Carry
Are you right or left handed?
Right Handed
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
Compact Size – low recoil – easy to rack the slide – nice trigger pull …. and pretty darn accurate to shoot.
Tell us about shooting this gun.
I love that I could also purchase this gun in a .22 caliber as well. so to go to the range I shoot with the .22 Ruger LCP and get settled in with a lighter recoil and then switch to the .380. Plus the ammo is cheaper to shoot in the .22
How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?
If is very manageable in the .380 If I am off target then I pay closer attention to my trigger pull and that is generally the issue…not the gun…just the shooter.
How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)
I have very small hands so this gun fits much more comfortably for me. And I am 69 yrs old so I needed a gun with a good trigger pull, easy to rack the slide and one that fits in my purse or in my jeans to carry.
Do you like the sights on this gun?
The sights are good but if you need to…you can always add a dot of bright nail polish to them for more visibility..
How reliable is it?
I have had not issues what so ever….but I also only buy good ammo to run through my guns. And I keep them cleaned and oiled.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
Not so far
Was it easy to take down and clean?
Fairly easy and there are good step by step instructions in the manual. And my local gun shop is always good if I have an issue or a question.
Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?
Not a thing. It is my favorite.
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Give it a try. I bought my .380 Ruger first and then went back when they made the same identical gun in a .22 cal. I figure this way I can do a lot more target shooting cheaper and because the guns are the same I am developing good muscle memory. But it is important to shoot both as the recoil is just slightly different.
Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?
I would absolutely recommend the Ruger LCP Max in a .380
(they also have in in a 9mm too, but I haven’t tried that one…….yet…..it might be my next 3rd. gun)
